Umbria is a great place for Festivals, the locals just love them. In Montone and the surrounding area there is always something going on. Below we have giving information on just some of the events during the year but there are plenty more throughout the year. That’s why we leave a welcome pack in our cottages advising our guests on whats on while they are in Umbria.
Festa Del Bosco
During the year there are plenty of Festivals on in Montone. The most famous one is FestadelBosco which happens in October and attracts thousands of people. The streets are full of stalls selling local produce, there is street entertainment and 3 taverns open up in the town so people can taste the local specialities
This year Montone’sFestadelBosco was a big success. The people came from far and near to taste new wine, new oil, they ate polenta with mushrooms, they drank artisanal beer.

Umbria Film Festival
The Umbrian Film festival is held in Montone every year. A big projector is setup in the square where they show films for both kids and adults

Festa Della Santa Spina
A very exciting medival festival held in the village of Montone in the month of August, the 3 regions of the town compete to crown their Queen. Lots of competitions like archery and flag throwing with entertainment for the kids in the evenings and 3 tavernas that open up to serve local food and local wine......an event not to be missed |

Every year at the start of September there is fiere del Settembre where the streets are lined with market stalls for 3 days. You can find everything here, clothes, food, animals and even gnomes for the garden.
Also early September there is the Fratta Dell 800. There is lots of street entertainment, people dress up in medival clothing and there is usually some mad man going around shooting bullets in the air. There is plenty of beer and wine flowing and is good fun…..not to be missed.
Citta Di Castello
Also a great little town for festivals. During the summer there is the FestedelCozze (mussel festival) followed by the Feste di Birra (Beer festival)
In November one of the bigger festivals that occurs in Citta di Castello is the TartufoBianco Festival. The bars and restaurants are packed with people who want to taste the fresh truffles. The truffles are used to make tasty starters, pasta dishes and main courses.
