Food
Famous for its pork recipes, Umbria offers excellent cuisine for all tastes, relying on prime local ingredients like its rich olive oil, and black and white truffles. In Montone there are a number of local producers that can be visited or sell their products from their farms or at the local market on Saturdays, there is Alberto the pig farmer that produces the most delicious salami and fresh pork products, along with Monni the local Sheep farmer that supplies the local supermarkets with his goats cheese and fresh Ricotta. For those who love fresh produce there is the Wednesday food market in Umbertide, the porchetta cannot be missed, this roast suckling pig, seasoned with rosemary or sage and plenty of salt and pepper is sold in fresh bread rolls or by the tray. Stalls full of fresh pecorino, local salami and cured ham, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, what more could one want.

The wine and olive oil museum at Lungarotti Estate are worth a visit, guided winery tours and tastings are by appointment.

Benadetta is a local girl who is an amazing cook, she can come to your cottage and teach you how to make homemade Ravioli with Ricotta and Spinach, tagliatelle and the most amazing Tiramisu you will ever taste (Pricing depends on the menu selected but can be customised depending on our guests requirements)

There are some lovely agriturismos in the area that run cookery course on a weekly basis - depends on availability - more info available

- Markets: Every Wednesday in Umbertide there is a gereral market and on Saturdays there is an organic farmers market.Weekly markets in Città di Castello & Sansepolcro, Monterchi on a Sunday morning.
